Cost & Payment Options

Course Costs

Recognizing the high costs of attending the CSOP, we have decreased our fees for 2012 to assist participants. For
those taking a course for personal or professional development, the fee is $490 per week. For those taking courses for academic credit, tuition is $690 per session.

Course fees for the Canadian School of Peacebuilding are higher than regular tuition because of the extra costs associated with bringing in high-quality instructors and students from around the world. The extra fees also help to cover events such as daily coffee breaks, the weekly noon Peacebuilder Banquet and other community-building activities.

Lodging

All CSOP participants who choose on-campus housing will be lodged in dormitory rooms or apartment suites.  Accommodation in dormitory rooms (including bedding) is available for $31.97 per person per night for double occupancy and $43.27 per person per night for single occupancy. It is the participants’ responsibility to make these arrangements ahead of time with CMU Hosting (rental@cmu.ca; phone: (204) 487-3300; toll free: (877) 231-4570; fax: (204) 837-7415).

Arrangements for off-campus lodging are the responsibility of the participant. Information on area hotels is available upon request.

Meals

Meals are available in the CMU dining hall at a cost of $5.75 per breakfast, $9.17 per lunch and $12.10 per supper and must be arranged in advance with CMU Hosting (rental@cmu.ca; phone: (204) 487-3300; toll free: (877) 231-4570; fax: (204) 837-7415).

The nearest restaurants and grocery stores are about 2 km from campus, which is a 20-30 minute walk or a 10 minute bus ride. Dormitory accommodations include shared access to a microwave and toaster, but do not include access to a fridge, stove or other kitchen facilities.

Registration includes a Peacebuilder Banquet (lunch).

Other Costs

Books are required for students taking a course for credit and will cost approximately $100 per course.

If you do not have valid health insurance for Canada, you will need to buy such coverage.

Payment Options

Payments can be made by credit card, cheque (payable to Canadian Mennonite University), wire transfer or money order.  E-mail csop@cmu.ca for more information.  Your application is not complete and your seat in the course is not reserved until full payment has been received.

Refund Policy

If a student wishes to withdraw from a class, and does so by April 1, 2012, we will refund 100% of the tuition fee, minus a $40 administrative fee. This gives us time to contact others to fill that seat. A student can receive a 50% refund if he or she withdraws between April 1 and the start of the second day of classes. However, in the case of an international student who must withdraw because his or her visa was denied, between April 1 and the first day of class we will provide a 100% refund, minus a $70 administrative fee. After the start of the second day of classes we will no longer give a refund.

Withdrawal Policy for Academic Credit Students

• The last day to delete a course from your registration is 9:00am on the second day of the course.
• The last day for voluntary withdrawal is July 15, 2012.
