Meals

Meals are available in the CMU dining hall at a cost of $5.75 per breakfast, $9.17 per lunch and $12.10 per supper and must be arranged in advance with CMU Hosting (rental@cmu.ca; phone: (204) 487-3300; toll free: (877) 231- 4570; fax: (204) 837-7415).

Lodging

All CSOP participants who choose on-campus housing will be lodged in dormitory rooms or apartment suites. Accommodation in dormitory rooms (including bedding) is available for $31.97 per person per night for double occupancy and $43.27 per person per night for single occupancy. It is the participants’ responsibility to make
these arrangements ahead of time with CMU Hosting (rental@cmu.ca; phone: (204) 487-3300; toll free: (877) 231-4570; fax: (204) 837-7415).

Location


Canadian Mennonite University is located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in central Canada. The University is about a 20-minute drive from the Winnipeg international airport, the Winnipeg bus terminal and the Winnipeg train station. Canadian Mennonite University is a scent-, smoke-, alcohol- and drug-free campus.

Click here for a map from the Winnipeg Bus Terminal to CMU. The Winnipeg Bus Terminal is located at 2015 Wellington Ave, beside the Winnipeg International Airport. The terminal was moved to this location in August 2009.

Entry Into Canada

All international persons coming to Canada to attend the CSOP will need to carry a valid passport. The Canadian government will require some of you to obtain a visa before you arrive in the country. Please start the process early; obtaining visas can take several months. To check requirements, please consult the website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp. Weather

The average temperature in Winnipeg in June ranges from 10.7° to 23.3° Celsius
(51° to 74° Fahrenheit). Average temperatures can be misleading, as some days in June are hotter than 30° Celsius. Summers are typically warm and often humid, with frequent night-time thunderstorms.

Campus Arrival and Departure

If you are arriving the morning of your class, go to the Heritage Lounge at the North side of campus (500 Shaftesbury Blvd) for registration and coffee. Registration is available from 8:00 – 8:45 am on the Monday of each week. Opening Program is at 9:00 am in the Laudamus Auditorium.

If you are arriving prior to registration, you can find your housing at Concord Hall (2318 Grant Ave). If you require additional assistance you can call CMU Campus Residence Hosts ((204) 228-3962). If you signed up and paid for housing, our facilities department will give you your room number in advance of your arrival.

Classes end at 3:00 PM on the last day of each session. Please note that it is a 20 minute cab ride to reach the Winnipeg International Airport and you will need to be there two hours in advance of your flight.

Support Services

All participants will have access to the library.

Books for each course will be available for purchase in the CMU Bookstore located on the south side of campus (600 Shaftesbury Bvd).

Computers, with internet access, will be available for your use on campus. You are welcome to bring your personal computer. There is internet hook-up in residences and there are several buildings on campus where wireless internet access is available.
